1. What this site is
Beyond Grid Life Knowledge Commons is operated by Beyond Grid Life. It provides general preparedness information. It is not medical, legal, electrical, engineering, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for first-aid training. Situations, laws and official guidance differ by place and change over time.
2. Using the information
You are responsible for deciding whether information is suitable for your situation and for following local laws, fire bans, licensing rules and official directions. Many activities described (for example fire, fuel, electrical systems, food preservation and water treatment) carry real risk. Do not attempt anything beyond your training or competence.
We work to keep guides accurate and to link the sources they rely on. Each guide shows its source basis and whether it has had independent specialist review (see our editorial standards). We do not guarantee that the information is complete, current or free of error.
3. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Beyond Grid Life is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its offline copies. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
4. Products and retailers
Beyond Grid Life does not sell, supply, ship or warrant any product. Product listings are general information. The retailer or manufacturer you buy from is responsible for price, stock, delivery, taxes, warranty, returns and product safety. Check current specifications and recall notices before buying. Some links may be affiliate links; see the affiliate disclosure.
5. Offline copies and sharing
Content is © 2026 Beyond Grid Life unless otherwise stated. You may download, print and share offline copies of the field guides and manual for personal, household, community and educational use without charge, provided you keep the attribution, the edition date and the safety notices intact. Please do not sell copies or present modified versions as official Beyond Grid Life guidance.
Offline copies do not update themselves. Check the edition date and download a fresh copy regularly.
6. Contributions
When you send us a contribution or correction, you confirm that it is your own work or that you have the right to share it, and that it does not include anyone else’s private information. You keep ownership of what you send. You grant Beyond Grid Life a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to edit, adapt, publish and distribute it as part of the commons, in any format, with or without credit as you request. We may decline, edit or remove contributions, particularly safety-critical ones that cannot be checked against reliable sources.

Links to other websites are provided for convenience and further reading. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
8. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
